Stars from popular series The Crown and Euphoria, Vanessa Kirby and Sydney Sweeney, have recently been cast in Ron Howard’s much-awaited survival thriller, now titled Eden. Initially known as Origin of Species, the narrative of this film revolves around an enigmatic event that took place on a secluded Galapagos island.

The plot delves into the extremes people might reach in their pursuit of joy. The movie promises to portray the facets of the human experience in manners that are unpredictable, comically absurd, and sensual, yet primarily filled with suspense and thrill.

It’s been said that Howard had this project on his radar for the past 15 years, ever since his first visit to the Galapagos, the site of the actual events. Collaborating on the screenplay are Howard and Noah Pink, known for Tetris, with renowned composer Hans Zimmer providing the score.

The film’s ensemble cast is further enriched by the likes of No Time to Die actress Ana De Armas, Jude Law from Captain Marvel, and Daniel Brühl of Captain America: Civil War fame. Kirby and Sweeney step in for Alicia Vikander of Tomb Raider and Daisy Edgar-Jones, both of whom had to exit the project.

Coming from her role in The White Lotus, Sweeney’s next appearance is with Glen Powell in the romantic comedy Anyone But You. She recently commented on the brewing romance gossip concerning her and Powell, revealing they found the rumors amusing.

Concurrently, Kirby, recognized for her role in Mission: Impossible 7, is set to feature alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming historical drama Napoleon. Fueling further speculations, Kirby shared her enthusiasm about the buzz linking her to the character Sue Storm in the potential Fantastic Four reboot, saying, “It would be an honor”. There’s also chatter about her sharing the Marvel screen with Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning, Part One co-star Pom Klementieff.

Audiences can catch Napoleon in theatres on November 22, while Anyone But You is set for a December 2023 release.
