PS Tetamashimba, MP Mulusa Injured in Road Accident | Zambia 24

Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office NAOMI TETAMASHIMBA and Solwezi Member of Parliament STAFFORD MULUSA have been flown to Lusaka for specialist treatment after being involved in a road accident in Kabwe.

Ms. TETAMASHIMBA is in a critical condition while Mr. MULUSA, who is also Parliamentary Chief Whip, is stable.

Zambia Police Deputy Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE and Central Province Minister CREDO NANJUWA have both confirmed the accident to ZNBC news in separate interviews.

Mr. MWALE says the accident happened when a driver of a Mark X hit the Land Cruiser which was being driven by Mr. MULUSA from behind at Fig Tree area in Kabwe.

Mr. MWALE says due to the impact, Mr. MULUSA lost control of the vehicle and hit the trailer of a truck.

Mr. MWALE said the driver of the truck escaped unhurt while the driver of the Mark X sped off and he has not yet been identified.

AND Government says it has evacuated the two from Kabwe to Lusaka due to the severity of the accident.

Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI KASANDA says the two have been evacuated from Kabwe General Hospital to the university Teaching Hospital in Lusaka so that they can receive specialized treatment in Lusaka.

In a statement to ZNBC News this afternoon, Ms. KASANDA says the government has learnt with sadness the accident which happened this morning at Fig Tree area in Kabwe.

Ms. KASANDA says the accident is another reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for motorists to observe traffic regulations.
