The Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company says it will reduce water supply hours in the district to about 12 hours on average to allow for repair works at the Naboye leakage site.
Company Managing Director JILLY CHIYOMBWE says the leakage is causing the loss of about 10 million cubic liters of water per day.
Mr. CHIYOMBWE says the problem occurred on a pipeline which was commissioned in 1970, with engineers noticing a sound under the concrete in 2019.
Speaking when some Members of Parliament from affected Constituencies in Lusaka visited the leakage site, Mr. CHIYOMBWE said engineers have to open the pipe to see the magnitude of the damage and start repair works.
Meanwhile, Water Development and Sanitation Minister MIKE MPOSHA tasked the utility company to ensure that repair works are done within 60 days.
