Kaizer Chiefs react to Chigova’s death


Kaizer Chiefs have sent a message of condolences to the late SuperSport United goalkeeper George Chigova.

SUPERSPORT UNITED ANNOUNCE GEORGE CHIGOVA HAS PASSED AWAY

As reported on Wednesday, the 32-year-old star died after suffering a heart attack, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the passing of former SuperSport United player, George Chigova,” United said.

“We convey our deepest condolences to his family and friends both in South Africa and in Zimbabwe during this difficult and very sad time.

“May his soul rest in peace 🕊,” SuperSport added.

KAIZER CHIEFS MESSAGE

“After learning of the tragic passing of George Chigova, the Kaizer Chiefs Family wish to express our deep empathy and extend heartfelt condolences to the Chigova family, and SuperSport United,” the club said via X.

“We wish you strength and solace through this period of mourning. May George’s soul rest in eternal peace,” Amakhosi concluded.

PLAYING CAREER

Born in Harare, Chigova began at Aces Youth in 2009. He then moved to Gunners Harare before the dream move to local giants Dynamos in 2012.

Chigova’s major career leap was in 2014 to SuperSport United. He later moved to Polokwane City before returning to Matsatsantsa a Pitori for his second stint in 2020.

His accolades included the 2014/15 league title with SuperSport, as well as eight caps in the national colours of the Zimbabwe Warriors.
