Boks climb Test rankings

The Springboks have the opportunity to go into the World Cup as the world’s number three side after the record-breaking win in Cardiff saw them climb the official rankings.

South Africa put a youthful Wales to the sword to earn their biggest-ever win in Wales in their penultimate 2023 Rugby World Cup warm-up on Saturday.

The 36-point margin marks the Boks’ biggest win against the Dragons in Wales.

As a result, the Springboks have climbed above World Cup hosts France into third place on World Rugby’s Test rankings.

Les Bleus have dropped down to fourth after their largely second-string side battled to a 34-17 victory against an ever-improving Fiji in Nantes on Saturday night.

The rest of the top 10 has remained unchanged, with leaders Ireland not getting any ranking points from a 29-10 win over 14-man England, while second-ranked New Zealand were not in action over the weekend.
