Bok flyer pens new French deal

La Rochelle have made swift work locking down a versatile Springbok speedster in the Top 14 club’s backline corps for the foreseeable future.

Dillyn Leyds has signed a new three-year deal that will see him remain at the Stade Marcel-Deflandre until the end of the 2026 season.

Capable of playing wing, fullback or in midfield, the 10-Test flyer has scored 26 tries in 78 appearances for the Yellow and Black since joining from the DHL Stormers in 2020.

The 31-year-old played a key role, along with fellow Bok Raymond Rhule, for Ronan O’Gara’s men in winning back-to-back Champions Cup titles (2021-22, 2022-23).

“I am very happy to continue my adventure within this extraordinary club. A club that became my family, far from home, and a city that made me feel like one of its own,” Leyds told La Rochelle’s official website.

“Thank you to the supporters for always supporting me, for always supporting us. It’s always special for me to play at Deflandre in front of our passionate supporters. You have already given me incredible memories and I hope that together we can continue to create more.

“I am honoured to play at Stade Rochelais for three more seasons!”
