WiSolar, the green digital utility provision solar company based in South Africa with a foothold in Nigeria has opened its Partner developer program to onboard residential estate developers and managers onto its prepaid solar electricity super app, WiGo.
WiGo is WiSolar’s proprietary solar electricity vending super app through which users can access and purchase prepaid solar electricity units seamlessly. Services are available in Nigeria and South Africa, and will be opening in Zimbabwe soon.
With South Africa currently generating 86% of its power from fossil fuels and being Africa’s biggest emitter of CO2, the WiSolar WiGo service is cut out to offer South Africans and Africans in general an easy way to adopt clean energy.
With the plan, real estate developers and managers of new and existing residential developments and affordable housing communities can become WiSolar’s Partner Developers to bring the service closer to their customers for an opportunity to offer climate-friendly homes with integrated solar electricity.
Speaking on the new initiative and on what inspired the move, WiSolar’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tonye Irims says the company is on a mission to provide low-cost, clean, and on-demand electricity in Africa.
“At WiSolar, we are on a mission to provide low-cost, clean, and on-demand electricity in Africa. We are transforming the way our world is powered with solar electricity for everyone. We want to make solar electricity accessible, and just as affordable as your home WiFi.
Speaking further, he says the company is targeting qualified residential estates and affordable housing communities in South Africa and Nigeria with its prepaid solar electricity service.
“We are targeting qualifying residential estates and affordable housing communities in South Africa and Nigeria for prepaid solar electricity.”
He says developers and home builders are welcomed to partner with it as Partner Developers to onboard their customers onto the service.
“Developers and home builders of new and existing homes can talk to us with regards to installing our prepaid solar electricity systems at their residential clusters and build outs. This will reduce the pressure of residential loads on the grid and also be low-cost to users. Essentially onboarded property developers can sell low-cost solar electricity to homeowners at their predetermined price.
The homeowner can simply download the WiSolar app for ease of payment using their bank card to purchase tokens for their kWh usage.”
