Anele Mdoda has publicly lent her support to Lalela Mswane who finished in the Miss Universe Top 3.

The Miss SA host and former judge tweeted her congratulations to the local beauty pageant winner who finished as second-runner up in the competition.

Lalela competed against 80 contestants in Eilat, Israel despite the backlash of her country and fellow South Africans.

And Anele firmly believes that Lalela is deserving of the position and praise.

ANELE MDODA MISS SA BACKLASH

Anele has had her own share of Miss South Africa controversy. Ahead of the 2021 pageant in October, many South Africans called for organisers to drop the 947 host as a host.

Many tweeps accused Anele of “skinny-shaming” in tweets that went viral in September.

How is such a person still associated with Miss SA brand. From calling other women ugly to skeletons. I wonder wat you call some of the contestants behind their backs if you can say such on a public platform.

They also found fault with her long-standing comments about US singer Kelly Rowland, whom she called “ugly”.

How ironic, you call someone ugly and get to host a beauty pageant. Lol yah neh

And the criticism continued after Anele was dragged by some tweeps over her hosting skills.

She was definitely not the right host Too much screaming. Doesnt seem there was technical rehearsal….The part where they were abt to announce top 3 she says… ” we welcome our top 5 ladies. Ohh u here already”

PRAISE FOR LALELA

Anele took to Twitter to heap praise on Lalela. She tweeted, referencing Lalela’s comments encouraging women to choose “courage over comfort”.

“Courage over comfort. Look what happens when you let your heart do the job @Lalela_lali. I keep telling you how necessary you are. We truly are our ancestors’ wildest dreams. Can’t wait to see you and celebrate you.”

Anele also took a jab at critics of Lalela, who included human rights and Pro-Palestine activists and government officials.

She added: “I am trying hard to not be petty about Lalela’s achievement. Please know that I am trying. Well done you beautiful girl. I cannot wait to hug you for long”.
