Six people found dead, one survives in Folweni, Durban

A gun shooting attack in Folweni, Durban has left six people dead and one survivor. The discovery was confirmed by the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Sunday night.


According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker, a shocking total of seven people were shot.

One woman escaped death though she sustained injuries that required urgent medical attention.

“It is alleged that last night seven people were shot by unknown suspects while they were inside a house on Mngadi Road in Folweni,” said Naidoo.

“Police were alerted by members of the community this morning and discovered the gruesome scene.


Added details from SAPS say the deceased were aged between the ages of 26 and 32. The six death victims of Durban’s Folweni were all discovered lifeless inside the house with gun wounds.

“The bodies of four men and two women aged between 26 and 32 were found inside the house with multiple gunshot wounds.

“They were all declared dead at the scene. A 27-year-old woman who was alive when police arrived was taken to hospital,” said Naicker.

Meanwhile, KwaZulu Natal’s provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi confirmed that the law had begun the chase to find the suspect (s).

“We are appealing to the community to come forward with information that will assist in identifying those behind the killings,” he said.

“We are appealing to anyone who has information that can assist in the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” said Naicker.
