After a slow start to the new Ethiopian Premier League with his club Ethiopian Coffee SC, Nassir is back in the spotlight again.

A brace two weeks ago against Jimma Aba Jifar in match-day five of the season opened his scoring for the season.

On Sunday, the 21-year-old added another two against Dire Dawa to take his tally to four in the last three matches.

With Kaizer Chiefs monitoring him with the thought of a January transfer move, Nassir will also be hoping to use the AFCON finals platform to attract further interest.

He has been named in Ethiopia’s squad for the tournament in Cameroon from 9 January to 6 February, 2022.

Last season he scored 29 goals in 22 games on his way to being crowned the league’s top goals scorer, Best Young Player, and the Most Valuable Player.

Kaizer Chiefs are weighing up their options

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly weighing up the option of bringing Nassir in in January or waiting until the end of the season when a conclusive decision will have also been made on the futures of Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic.

Another foreigner on Amakhosi’s books, Zambian forward Lazarous Kambole, has fallen out of favour and will leave at the end of the season if there is no way out in January.
