RADEBE AND WHAITE: ‘THIS IS WHAT WE’VE BEEN FIGHTING FOR’
In an interview with Sky News on Saturday 11 December, Johannes Radebe and John Whaite thanked their fans for their undying love and support throughout their Strictly journey. Whaite shared that they have been fighting for minorities around the world mentioning that he feels immensely proud.
“To be able to do this now on a huge platform, the biggest platform in our country and to have no question around it…You know we’ve had very little hate, very little flack. We’ve had overwhelming support and love.”
“To be able to do that, it just shows how far we’ve come in terms of our attitudes to diversity generally. Not just gay diversity, but diversity at large.”
“I’ve never ever thought that this moment would come,” added Radebe.
“When I saw Nicola and Katya do it for the first time last year, I just wanted to applaud the BBC for having to make such a stand. So there are people that we really have to say thank you [to] for really pushing this.”
“As an African boy, it’s big,” concluded the dance professional.
