With the Local Government Elections (LGE) underway on Monday 1 November, millions of South Africans are expected to head to polling stations around the country and give their vote to one of SA’s political parties wrangling for power.
Election days in South Africa rarely go by without a host of flash points, and several disruptions have already been reported at several voting stations, so we’ve got you covered with a live stream of events to keep an eye on as they unfold on Monday.

IEC to provide briefing
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will give their first briefing on election progress at 13:00 on Monday. The IEC will also have to address concerns around a host of reported disruptions at voting stations around the country – disruptions which have been noted:
“We are aware of challenges in certain polling stations and all issues are receiving our attention. Ensuring that South Africans exercise their democratic right, safely and with as little disruption as possible remains our top priority,” the IEC said.
