Social media star Lasizwe Dambuza is trending on Twitter after a video of him on a street pole advert for the EFF went viral today (1 November).

LASIZWE IS TRENDING ON TWITTER

Today (1 November) is dedicated to the municipal elections. Earlier today Lasizwe Dambuza urged his 2.6 million followers on Instagram and Twitter to vote for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). This was over a video with Coconut Kelz who urged her followers to vote for the Democratic Alliance (DA).

A few hours later, Lasizwe shared a video of himself on a street pole advert for the EFF where he is dubbed “president of LGBTQI+”. The video was then shared onto Twitter and began to trend.

TWEEPS REACT TO VIRAL VIDEO

Tweeps were not impressed with the social media star promoting the EFF and thought he would do “anything for money.”

Another Tweep referenced the money they thought he was getting saying the “bag must be heavy.”

Another questioned whether there would be change in terms of the issues faced by the LGBTQI+ community with Lasizwe on board.

“EFF has LGBTQIA+ policies in their manifestos. Beyond that there is no mention of specific issues that the community deals with. Like you @lasizwe, they stay being mum when there’s report of a queer person dying through hate crime. So, with you on board…will there be change?” wrote the Tweep.

“Lasizwe gets to support, promote and vote for any party his little heart desires but my problem is the consistent tokenism and tap dancing that always somehow has to include the rest of us,” wrote another Tweep.

“The way the EFF is using influencers for their campaign is repugnantly cosmetic,” wrote a Tweep.

LASIZWE: ‘IT’S CREATIVE BUT NOT REAL’

After the video trended on Twitter, Lasizwe took to his Instagram story to let his followers know that the video is not real.

“Jokes aside, someone created that EFF poster video. It’s creative but it’s NOT real,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I mean I wouldn’t mind being the president of the LGBTQI+,” he wrote on his Instagram story.

He also shared a video of himself casting his vote in Soweto while sporting an EFF cap.
