Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane made no effort to conceal her opinions about a case that could, possibly, end up on her desk one day soon. The Chapter 9 official Tweeted her reaction to the Tembisa 10 report, which was released on Wednesday – but South Africans were left bemused by her conduct.

Tembisa 10 reports – PP Busisiwe Mkhwebane reacts to decuplets debacle

Alongside an ill-placed Squid Game meme, the decision to declare her belief in Independent Media’s version of events probably isn’t befitting of the office she holds. Several people questioned if Mkhwebane’s account was a parody, and wondered why she was getting involved with the decuplets situation before seeing any concrete proof.

In her post, the Public Protector stated that ‘heads must roll’, after Independent Media accused several health and government officials of moving the ten babies ALLEGEDLY born to Gosiame Sithole to different hospitals, before attempting to pass them on in an elaborate human trafficking scam.

Public Protector weighs in on Tembisa 10 report

Of course, the wild accusations have prompted both the provincial and national health departments to take legal action against the publishing firm, rejecting the ‘outright lies’ that were made public at the presser.

The whole situation is an outright mess, and nothing summed up the circus quite like Iqbal Survé. The editor of Independent Media claims to have evidence of where the decuplets are now, and how they were separated from their mother shortly after being born. However, this information will only be revealed in a ’10-part video series’. Sigh…

Someone should teach the Public Protector how to meme

It’s perhaps not the time, nor the place, nor the right circumstance for Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to get involved. The fact that she has already made her views on the matter perfectly clear could prove to be quite troublesome down the line, given that several legal battles are already underway.
