Orlando Pirates will face Liberian opponents for the first time in their history after they were drawn against LPRC Oilers in what has been called an ‘additional second preliminary round’ CAF Confederation Cup clash.
The Buccaneers, who beat DR Congo side CSMD Diables Noirs in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round, will face LPRC Oilers (who were eliminated in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round by Morocco’s Raja Casablanca).
Liberia will be the 29th different African country Orlando Pirates will have visited in their long – and rich – CAF competition history.
The first leg matches will be played between 26-28 November 2021 while the second legs will take place from 3-5 December 2021.
Orlando Pirates will play the first leg away from home and will host the second leg at the Orlando Stadium.
The 16 winners of the ties will move forward to take part in the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup which will start in February 2022.
