Sekhukhune United continued their impressive start to the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season with a 2-0 victory over AmaZulu at the Ellis Park On Wednesday.
Willard Katsande, who spent a decade at Naturena before making the move to Sekhukhune United, opened the scoring in the 48th minute before Chibuike Ohizu (51st minute) added the second to clinch the full three points for Sekhukhune United who were forced to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men after Pogiso Mahlangu was red-carded.
The three points saw Sekhukhune United move up to fourth in the standings with 14 points as they recorded their fourth victory in eight matches.
AmaZulu came into the contest on a high having qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League having beaten TP Mazembe on aggregate last Saturday.
However, it appeared the mental and physical toll of that achievement – as well as the taxing journey back to South Africa from the DR Congo – contributed to a lackluster display by Benni McCarthy’s side on the night.
AmaZulu remained eighth in the log with 10 points after eight matches.
Sekhukhune United will next be in action away against Orlando Pirates in a mouth-watering clash on Tuesday, 2 November at 17:30.
AmaZulu will look to get back to winning ways in their next match at home against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday, 3 November at 15:30.
