Eskom has just announced that the country will be plunged into Stage 4 load shedding from Wednesday until Friday…and it’s safe to say that no-one is happy!
The power utility made the announcement today that the country would move from Stage 2 to Stage 4 load shedding due to a loss of functionality at several power stations.
The news trended on Twitter and even celebs jumped in to have their say…
CELEBS REACT IN ANGER TO ESKOM’S STAGE 4
Female DJ DBN Gogo — who is the daughter of former minister Jeff Radebe — led the angry tweeps’ reactions.
“Eskom is taking the p***. Stage 4!? Are they mad,” the popular muso — whose billboard has been erected in New York’s Time Square this week — tweeted.
5 FM’s Nick Hamman mocked the irony of the situation. “At this point @Eskom_SA should rather notify us know when the power is going to be on”, he tweeted.
And Twitter personality Daniel Marven called out Eskom for hitting the people at the button of the food chain hardest.
He posted: “South Africa has been on Stage 6-8 of load-shedding when you combine load-shedding and the township remix version called load reduction. Because Eskom has a white racist CEO, no one is talking. So sad!”
Blogger Phil Mpela and media personality Siv Ngesi used the opportunity to remind South Africans to make the right choice when voting…
LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE FOR LOAD SHEDDING
It’s true what they say, if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry! And with Stage 4 load shedding on the cards, the only thing you can do is laugh, claim these tweeps.
Doctor and TV presenter Musa Mthombeni had his followers in stitches when he referenced not only the tremor that struck Jozi, but Eskom’s announcement.
“It’s not a tremor, it’s Eskom shaking things up!”, he tweeted.
Jacaranda FM DJ Alex Jay also tweeted a funny post poking fun at the power utility.
South African tweeps joined in one the fun of making light out of load shedding (no pun intended)…
