Chippa United coach Gavin Hunt says he will look to sign players in next January’s transfer window to add depth to his struggling squad.
The Chilli Boys are down in 14th place in the 16-team DStv Premiership standings with just one win from eight matches to date.
Their most recent match ended in a 0-0 stalemate against Swallows on Sunday which came after a 4-0 hiding at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs.
Gavin Hunt, 57, won the league title three times while at SuperSport United and once with Bidvest Wits, while his time with Amakhosi was cut short after just 10 months.
Hunt made 16 signings ahead of the current campaign in an attempt to bolster the Gqeberha-based side, but is in need of some more ‘firepower’ up front.
Hunt said according to the Sowetan: “A draw is not a fair result. We had opportunities and should have won the game. We lack the quality here and there.
“Yes, we kept the clean sheet but we lacked the quality in the final third of the field. We will soldier [on] but we need to get to the transfer window and try to do some business.”
Hunt added: “I am disappointed that we did not score. The commitment was there and I cannot fault the players. There is not much we can do. We have to keep on working hard.”
Chippa United have only scored three goals this season, while conceding 10.
They will next be in action against Cape Town City FC at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, 3 November.
kick-off is scheduled for 17:00.
