A warrant of arrest has been issued by the courts for singer, Bulelwa ‘Zahara’ Mtukukana.
The warrant was issued this past Friday by the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court in the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court.
Sunday World has reported that the singer could end up behind bars for failing to show up to answer to a charge of failing to submit her personal tax returns.
NPA CONFIRMS WARRANT
She was charged by the NPA in April for failing to submit her personal tax returns for the years, 2017 and 2018 to SARS.
An NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that a warrant of arrest for the singer has been issued.
“We can confirm that a warrant of arrest has been issued for Bulelwa ‘Zahara’ Mtukukana for her failure to appear in the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge.”
“She was charged for failing to submit her personal tax returns.”
“But it was held over until Wednesday, October 27.”
The award-winning songstress failed to appear in court last Friday (22 October) where she was supposed to plead to the charge and begin a trial.
Zahara paid her first criminal record when she paid a R1500 guilt fine in June for failing to appear in the same court.
She also recorded her second criminal record after paying an admission of guilt fine of R2000 for failing to submit her company, Zahara Army’s income tax returns after pleading guilty to all charges.
She paid this fine after she was given an option to pay or spend three months in jail after the court found her guilty.
