Healthy Double Chocolate Truffles – A healthy chocolate snack for your day

We all love a good ol’ chocolate snack every now and then. Chocolate has been proven to affect the hormones that have to do with curbing depression and it just tastes so good. But, we often find ourselves feeling guilty about enjoying it, especially when we are looking after our health. The things we eat can have a big impact on our well-being and we have a solution. These Healthy Double Chocolate Truffles are a great snack that you can make at home that will have you enjoying chocolate, guilt-free.

Raw cacao powder is a great source of iron, protein, potassium, magnesium and fibre. It’s also anti-inflammatory and potentially reduces the risk of developing certain health conditions. The addition of avocado barely registers on taste but provides a soft texture, includes healthy fats and goes surprisingly well with chocolate. The darker percentage of chocolate you use, the better the recipe will be. These Healthy Double Chocolate Truffles are great treats for everybody and are only 69 calories per ball, making them perfect for a mid-morning or afternoon snack.

1 medium avocado, blended until smooth

80 g chocolate, extra dark, melted

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon cinnamon, ground

1 teaspoon xylitol

2 tablespoons cocoa powder


Pour the melted chocolate over the blended avocado and mix well.Add the vanilla, cinnamon and xylitol and combine well. There should be no clumps.Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 30 – 60 minutes until the mixture is cooled and hardened.Remove from the fridge, and scoop and roll into 12 balls.Roll the balls in cocoa powder and serve.
