Eight pedestrians knocked down by ‘out of control’ vehicle in Pretoria

A motorist allegedly lost control of their sports utility vehicle and collided with eight pedestrians in Pretoria on Monday morning, 25 October. When emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident one of the pedestrians was trapped beneath the vehicle.

EIGHT PEDESTRIANS BUMPED OVER

Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said that paramedics responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident on Garsfontein Road in Pretoriuspark, Pretoria just before 9:00 on Monday morning.

“Reports indicate that the driver of an SUV lost control, knocking down eight pedestrians in the process,” said Herbst.

When the Netcare911 medics arrived at the scene, they found one of the pedestrians stuck under the vehicle and the attending crew subsequently help free the patient.

Eight individuals were injured. Three adult men suffered serious injuries while another four adult men suffered minor to moderate injuries, said Herbst.

All the patients were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital, by various ambulance services, for further medical treatment.
