Attention of the cricket world will turn to Abu Dhabi on Saturday for the opening match of Group 1 between Australia and South Africa, two of the most fascinating and unpredictable nations to enter this tournament.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and South Africa’s Anrich Nortje were two of the standout overseas players in the UAE phase of the IPL.

Maxwell amassed 290 runs from eight innings (4×50), following it up with 37 from 28 balls in a warm-up game against India. Nortje’s powerplay economy rate in the 2021 IPL was an outstanding 5.28 runs per over, in addition to 12 wickets from 30 total overs in the UAE.
